A dream come true
I am especially moved and touched by the article, “Women’s Role Models: Where Have They Gone?” I am a 67-year-old African- American woman. This issue allowed me to truly live Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream when he said “judged not by the color of our skin but by the content of our character.” This sensational article revealed women of charac¬ter, grace, talent, strength, and compassion. Of the 17 remarkable women mentioned, seven were black women. I literally cried reading the article. Thank you.

Learning to say “no”
Please consider writing more articles like “Making Time for the Things You Love.” It really spoke to my heart. I’m a mom who as of late has felt quite guilty at times that I’m missing out on enjoying those small moments with my kids. Even though everything I do is ultimately for them, I sometimes feel like the bad guy. (A feeling I completely put upon myself.)
One of my most powerful takeaways from this article—learn how to say no. I practice that one each day. So any additional articles on the topic would be very much welcomed. It’s probably something we all could use reminding about from time to time.
With gratitude …

Food for thought
Your article, “The Healing Power of Fresh Foods,” gave me the boost to want to educate myself about eating more foods that have health benefits. While I have far to go, I’ve begun stocking my “food pharmacy” and have committed to make a move in the right direc¬tion. Kris Carr’s amazing story of how she has kept her cancer at bay for several years through her attitude, lifestyle, and diet was a very pow¬erful drive for me getting into action.

Balance with books
I just wanted to share how much I enjoy your book and movie sections of Ali Magazine (and of course every other section!). Once upon a time I belonged to a book club and seem to recall also catching a movie or two each month. Well, life gets busy and sometimes those are the first things to get pushed to the side.
After months of living vicariously through your movie and book reviews, you’ve inspired me to organize a book club with friends. Thank you for reminding us all that good business always needs to be balanced with a little pleasure!

Defining goals
I was so touched by the success story of Nadja Piatka in your article, “The Bold, the Brave, and the Daring.” Her resolve to change her life and build a stable financial future is inspiring.
Nadja keeps that original list of goals she wrote out shortly after hiding out from a debt collector, and she has managed to make every goal a reality. After reading the article, I had a heart-to-heart with myself and sat down to pen some clearly defined goals. It felt great.
Thank you for bringing such amazing women to the pages of Ali Magazine.
